It is being a prevailing trend that a lot of students are considering to go abroad for their higher studies or getting any diploma. But it is not a simple task to do as one must have to clear English language test. There are mainly Two type of tests which are IELTS(International English language testing system) and PTE(Pearson test of English). A lot of students most probably think of clearing Pte as they consider it more simpler than IELTS but they do not know the dark side of PTE as PTE is less preferred over IELTS. Universities and colleges all around the world always give first priority to those candidates who have done IELTS because it is accurate in finding the real position of a person who have done it.

Why IELTS is more important?

IELTS is accepted by governments in more countries than any other English language test as a requirement for Getting visa for a country. The governments of the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand accept IELTS results. The IELTS score you need depends on the requirements of your visa.

The Speaking test takes between 11 and 14 minutes and consists of an interview between the test taker and a trained and certified examiner. This test is performed in three phases.
Part 1
Test takers answer general questions about themselves and a range of familiar topics, such as their home, family, work, studies and interests. (4-5 minutes).

Part 2
Test takers are given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. They have one minute to prepare before speaking up to two minutes. The examiner may then ask one or two questions on the same topic to finish this part of the test. (3-4 minutes)

You could say: when you received it, who sent it, what it was about and explain why it was important to you.

You will have to talk about the topic for 1 to 2 minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.

Part 3
Test takers are asked further questions connected to the topic in Part 2. These questions give the test taker an opportunity to discuss more abstract issues and ideas. (4-5 minutes).

2.Writing Module

Academic Writing: What is the IELTS Writing test?

The Writing test takes 60 minutes. There are two tasks to complete.

Task 1: It is suggested that about 20 minutes is spent on Task 1, which requires candidates to write at least 150 words.

Task 2: This task requires at least 250 words and should take about 40 minutes. Task 2 contributes twice as much as Task 1 to the Writing score.

Responses must be given on the Writing Answer Sheet and must be written in full. Notes are not acceptable as answers. Responses to both tasks must be written in an academic or semi-formal/neutral style.

Test takers may write on the Question Paper but this cannot be taken from the test room and will not be seen by the examiner.

In both tasks, test takers are assessed on their ability to write a response which is appropriate in terms of content, the organisation of ideas, and the accuracy and range of vocabulary and grammar.

Each task is assessed independently.

Assessment of writing performance is carried out by examiners trained and certified by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia or IELTS USA.

Scores are reported as a whole band or half band. Detailed assessment criteria have been developed, which describe written performance at the nine IELTS bands.
